RESOLUTION 1325: A RESOLUTION FOR PEACE
The book aims to make UNSCR 1325 accessible to civil society and genderpractitioners by making it simple to understand and exploring how it can be used practically.
PEACE? RESOLUTION 1325 AN INTRODUCTION
On October 31 2000, the UN Security Council adopted a historic and unique resolution on women, peace and security; UNSCR 1325 that stresses women’s active roles as peace agents. The aim of the resolution is to increase women’s participation in all activities that deal with conflict prevention, peace keeping, peace building and post-conflict reconstruction.

WOMEN’S ROLES IN PEACE PROCESSES AND SOCIETIES IN CONFLICT
The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), adopted in 1979 by the UN General Assembly, is often described as an international bill of rights for women.
Consisting of a preamble and 30 articles, CEDAW defines what constitutes discrimination against women and sets up an agenda for national action to end such discrimination.

RECOMMENDATIONS
ADVOCACY REPORT
Operation 1325 has produced an advocacy report together with two of our Yemeni partner organisations. The report is aimed at Swedish policy makers and the international community and contains recommendations to increase women’s participation in a possible national peace process in Yemen.
POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR COUNTERING VIOLENT EXTREMISM
The following recommendations have been developed by women, aged 17-25, from different parts of Stockholm. Through their involvement in Motkraft, a project within Operation 1325, they were invited to a workshop with the Life & Peace Institute in October 2020.

The Palestinian Centre for Peace and Democracy and Operation 1325 have published a handbook together based on the experiences of the Young Women Mediation School and the Board Trainee Program. We share stories, plans and good examples of intergenerational engagement.
MEDIATION AND INFLUENCE INSIGHTS: VIEWS AND EXPERIENCES ON INFLUENCING PEACE PROCESSES (2017)
Operation 1325 wishes to support women insider mediators in their peace and conflict processes. We have collected views and insights on mediation processes in this small publication, for inspiration and for encouragement. It is a contribution towards more women peace-makers.
YOU MAKE THE DIFFRENCE - THE 1325 TOOLKIT (ENGLISH AND ARABIC)
The purpose of the 1325 TOOLKIT is to offer a simple and useful resource on how to contribute towards increasing women’s participation, protection and empowerment in conflict and post-conflict areas. A resource for international mission personell, national officials and security sector staff, NGO-workers and activists – or everyone who works for the reformation and improvement of the security sector. Since context and mandate might vary significantly, not all suggestions and examples presented in this booklet are relevant and useful for everybody in every given situation, but take your time and read with an open mind and let it be of guidance and inspiration to your own work and efforts.
MEDIA TOOLKIT: CREATING SPACE FOR WOMEN'S RIGHTS - PRACTICAL ADVICE
The 1325 MEDIA TOOLKIT has been developed by Operation 1325 in partnership with Women’s Empowerment Organization in Iraqi Kurdistan (WEO), Women Media and Development in Palestine (TAM) and Media Association for Peace in Lebanon (MAP).
It is based on our joint experiences and lessons learned from years of working with advocacy and media strategies to increase women’s rights and the implementation of Resolution 1325 in the Middle East and North Africa region.

A practical guide to the process of developing a National Action Plan for UNSCR 1325 on women, peace, and security.
The NAP Navigator Toolkit is part of the NAP Navigator training concept for capacity building on national action plans on UNSCR 1325 and the women, peace, and security agenda.
SECURITY ON THE GROUND (2012)
This brochure offer those of you working with Security Sector Reform (SSR) issues in conflict and post-conflict areas simple and useful advice on how to contribute towards increasing women’s participation and strengthening the protection of women in these areas.
This advice rests on recommendations formulated by women activists with experience from Iraq, Sudan and Iraqi Kurdistan in cooperation with Swedish staff from SSR
missions in conflict areas.
FREDSAGENT 1325
Peace Agent 1325 is a handbook for training and empowerment to work with democracy, human rights, gender equality, conflict management, non-violence and peace. The aim is to provide knowledge, tools and inspiration for change – to prevent violence and war and to create a just, sustainable and peaceful development in the immediate neighbourhood and globally.

THE GAME CHANGER (2023)
The world is facing several intertwined crises that are hindering progress and creating a backlash against human rights globally. The aftermath of the pandemic, growing hunger and poverty, the climate and nature crises and the rewinding of democratic progress are all factors with a particular negative bearing on gender equality. At this point in our history the need for bold, progressive leadership is absolutely crucial. A feminist foreign and development policy has the potential to make real change by addressing the root causes of inequalities, and the uneven power relations.
Behind this publication are sixteen Swedish civil society organisations coordinated within the CONCORD Sweden platform.
WOMEN IN SWEDEN 2021 - A REVIEW (2021)
The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women was adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1979. The purpose of the Convention is to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women and to realise women’s full human rights on equal terms with as men. Sweden was the first country in the world to ratify the Convention in 1980.
In 2021, the Swedish government will be reviewed by the Un CEDAW Committee. The Swedish Women’s Lobby, together with the CEDAW network, has produced a shadow report to the government’s report. The report examines women’s living conditions and gender equality policy based on the 16 articles of CEDAW.
Several organisations and Operation 1325 are part of the CEDAW network and are behind this report.

HOW FEMINIST IS SWEDEN'S FOREIGN POLICY? (2017)
In the post-corona recovery, we have a chance to build a more sustainable world than before. For the transition to be both inclusive and just, we need climate policies that recognise girls and women as actors. This review shows that both Swedish and international laws and frameworks fail to make the link between gender and climate. This also misses the opportunity to build a green and equal world.
Several organisations and Operation 1325 are members of CONCORD Sweden’s Gender Equality Working Group and have contributed to the development of the report and its recommendations in their respective areas of expertise.
FEMINIST POLICIES FOR CLIMATE JUSTICE (2020)
Sweden is the first country in the world to have an explicit ambition to pursue a feminist foreign policy, a policy that aims to strengthen the rights, representation and resources of all women and girls. When Sweden’s Foreign Minister Margot Wallström launched the feminist foreign policy in 2014, it was a bold and important political statement.
Since then, we have seen several major setbacks for the rights of women, girls and LGBTI people around the world. In this report, 19 CONCORD member organisation come together to analyse implementation of Sweden’s feminist foreign policy over the past year.
ISLANDS OF PEACE AND JUSTICE (2023)
Members of the Working Group from different parts of the OSCE region and with different links to civil society organisations and networks have their say in this publication. They share material that they have exchanged with the group and that has sparked discussions.
The texts are a rich source of in-depth public reflection on peacebuilding and the defence of women’s rights as human rights. Some texts are extracts from a longer version or publication. Feel inspired to read more.
The women’s stories were created in direct contact with local activists on the ground and accompanied by international experts to reach and inform key actors with their messages.
